Why I wanted to be the first owner of DMS Holland’s DMS All-in-One marine stabilization system

First, about me. My name is Abram Zinberg, I live and grew up in Orange County California. Most of my life I’ve lived close to the water and was fortunate enough to enjoy the ocean via Jetskis and boating. Alternate hobbies included road cycling, scuba diving, and race car driving. In pursuing these hobbies, I strove to find the best equipment and technology. This approach helped me quickly master the skills to enjoy these activities at a high level.

Trained as an attorney, I had a successful career as a health care executive. There I learned the importance of using the latest technology and novel approaches as a way of achieving the best results. Applying that knowledge to my career helped garner multiple senior executive positions at a young age.

I applied this same logic when we decided to buy a boat, engineering and build quality were top of my priorities. Recently we were lucky enough to find something that met this criteria, M/Y Hush, a custom 20m, long range, fast cruiser designed by Hunt Yachts and built by Royal Huisman. M/Y Hush was meticulously crafted in 1999 and well maintained but needed to be updated with the latest marine enhancements. Over the last year we completed her refurbishment, and have since been cruising her in the Mediterranean. Guest and seaman alike would comment on Hush’s exceptional sea kindly ride, impressive range at speed (cruising at 17-18 kts) and how quite she is underway, hence the name, “Hush.” Unfortunately Hush lacks stabilization and which would allow us to extend her range by travelling at sailing speeds. Because of her semi-displacement hull, without stabilization, such cruising is limited to pristine conditions.

Initially, retrofitting Hush with stabilization appeared untenable. A gyroscopic system would require a complete reconfiguration of her well laid out engine room, and external fins would sacrifice too much interior space plus, neither system would provide the full range of stabilization desired. When I saw the early press release for DMS Holland’s All-In-One marine stabilization system, I thought wow, how come no one thought of this before? New technology and out of the box thinking to provide superior marine stabilization intelligently designed so that it did not cannibalize valuable interior or engine room space. Best of all it can be easily retrofitted to work on Hush. Perfect!

Once I spoke to the people behind the All-In-One, I knew I had made the right choice. Gifted engineers and dedicated professionals who are passionate about manufacturing great products. It only felt right for an exceptional M/Y to have a state-of-the-art stabilization system which is where DMS Holland checked all the boxes.
